perfect for my son
Once he got this gift, there were suddenly no other toys in the house. 9 months later scarcely a day goes by when he is not attired in full armor off battling dragons, bears or enemy invaders. I bought this set for his 4th birthday and it should be understood that the boy needs to have a degree of self-control so as not to harm siblings, babies, mothers etc. I won't say none of his sisters have been hit with the sword but he's pretty good about targeting imaginary foes. The plastic wasn't too bad as a hit goes. Preferable to the sticks he carried about earlier. I'm not really in favor of encouraging violence in kids but with my son I've found it is an unquenchable urge to be victorious by rescuing and battling. With minimal direction he sees himself as protector of mother, sisters and babies, which is good. I also prefer the sword as a weapon for now to guns. Although, these too have a place with parental guidance as to their purpose. (I don't let him shoot people just "wild...

A nice addition...
I bought this as an additional accessory to go with my three year olds Halloween knight costume. He looked adorable! The knight set was pretty large for him and we had to tie on the chest armor to keep it from falling off, but he loved it. He still loves playing with it all and surprisingly has not broken any of it yet (almost 1 month later). It is lightweight and the sword will bend if you hit something to hard. This set is much better than one you would get from the dollar store but probably not the BEST armor set out there for kids. Regardless, this set will definitely trigger loads of imaginative play for any young child. It would probably be best fitted (size) for ages 5-8.

Good quality
My son loves this and it's made of great quality meaning it can be used for years. Only complaint is that the helmet is a bit shallow and falls off my son's head very easily. A deeper helmet, or a chin strap or some such would have helped this stay more secure.
