Though we purchased the large for my daughter, I couldn't help thinking it is good that she is skinny. This would have never fit a boy accustomed to size 12/14. She has a small head with thin hair, and the hat was snug. We were lucky in our purchase, because it fit her and she enjoyed being Zorro for Halloween. The hat could have been a little fancier as in the Banderas version, but she was happy all around.
